Hábitat y Sociedad (issn 2173-125X), n.º 13, noviembre de 2020, Universidad de Sevilla, pp. 11-28 11 http://dx.doi.org/10.12795/HabitatySociedad.2020.i13.02 Abstract Usually, the fgures and facts used to analyze cycling mobility in the urban environment, are hardly based in references to infrastructures as a factor that facilitates / hinders that mobility. Convinced of the need to con- sider other infuential variables, we address from the CICLA project the general objective of knowing mo- bility in urban areas of Andalusia. More specifcally we are committed to knowing which are the main social discourses and practices around the use of the bicycle, within the need to incorporate social, economic, po- litical and cultural aspects usually separated from the analysis. Based on a qualitative methodology and a ho- listic approach, the results of this research shed light on some of these aspects, providing some conclusions and refections of interest for the promotion of the bicycle as a means of transport in our cities. Key words Culture; Infrastucture; Social use; Bicycle; City Resumen De forma habitual, las cifras y hechos que se emplean para analizar la movilidad ciclista en el ámbito urba- no están fuertemente basadas en las infraestructuras como factor que facilitan/difcultan esa movilidad. Con el convencimiento de la necesidad de considerar otras variables infuyentes, abordamos desde el proyec- to CICLA el objetivo general de conocer la movilidad en zonas urbanas de Andalucía. Más concretamente, apostamos por estudiar los principales discursos y prác- ticas sociales en torno al uso de la bicicleta, dentro de la necesidad de incorporar aspectos sociales, económi- cos, políticos y culturales habitualmente apartados del análisis. Con una metodología de corte cualitativo y un enfoque holístico, los resultados de esta investigación arrojan luz sobre algunos de estos aspectos, aportan- do algunas conclusiones y refexiones de interés para la promoción de la bicicleta como medio de transporte en nuestras ciudades.
