A very large amount of people in India are enrolled in higher education. These people face a lot of difficulties in their life as this is the time in life when they have many responsibilities and challenges. Due to these problems and challenges their physical and mental health are at stake. So there is a need to find out those factors which help in making them feel better and would help them in fighting back these stressors of life. Having this purpose in mind, the current study tries to find out the relationship between self-regulation and psychological well-being because these variables have been found to have a great impact on the lives of individuals and on their physical and mental health. The results show that these two variables are positively correlated with each other. Keywords: Self-regulation, psychological well-being, students, correlation, higher education, youth Introduction India is a young nation. A huge amount of India’s population comprise of young people. In India, we have a large amount of pupils who are enrolled in higher education. These young people face a lot of challenges each and every day. These challenges may range from finding a perfect job to a loving partner, from chasing the dreams to following elder’s orders and compensating for the things that they wanted to do but could not. This is the time of life when an individual is confronting a lot of things in daily life. It is when an individual is struggling with life and struggling for a better life. There are some factors that can help in making life better for these individuals. One of them is self-regulation and the other one is psychological well-being. Self-regulation is an umbrella term inculcating the control over thinking, concentration, emotions and actions. It has often been defined as the process, be it conscious or unconscious, which helps the individual in controlling his impulses, thoughts, emotions and attention. It also provides a feedback which is based on past experiences, performances and behavior and in turn it guides changes in adjustment which are made during current scenario, hence is also termed as cyclic process. It helps in generating and maintaining an optimum for interaction with environment (Kuhl & Beckmann, 1994). According to APA, self-regulation is the control an individual posses on his behavior with the help of self-monitoring, self-evaluation as well as self-reinforcement.
