For some, globalization is an economic process by which the everyday experience is standardized around the world. For others, it is strongly associated with advanced capitalism, progress in technology, and a transformed means of communications. Others argue that globalization destroys old traditions and norms but instead creates a homogenized world culture and increases interdependence. Overall, globalization is perceived as highly complex macro- and microlevel processes that are associated with the shifts in peoples lived experiences. It promotes the integration of social, political, ideological, eco- nomic, and cultural systems of different nations into interrelated and interdependent systems leading to nationsassimilation and loss of identity. While globalization has caused transformations at every level of social life, it has affected the family and family structure and caused the undergoing modi- cations in intergenerational relations.
