An analysis of the pianistic writing in the song “ O Eco” (2008) by Ernst Mahle Eliana Asano Ramos Universidade Estadual de Campinas Maria José Dias Carrasqueira de Moraes Universidade Estadual de Campinas Deborah Stein New England Conservatory Abstract: This communication is part of ongoing doctoral thesis in musical performance whose main objective is to investigate the pianistic writing in Ernst Mahle's songs. The main objective of this communication is to present partial results of an ongoing abroad research through an analysis of the song “O Eco”, for high voice and piano, dated 2008. This analysis is based on Stein and Spillman (1996) and Kostka (2006). It is focused on the musical relationships and organization that influence the performance interpretation and works out solutions to problems of interpretation related to the accompaniment, especially regarded to Mahle's unique musical language. The final results reveal that the piano part is not only a support for the vocal line, but also it is responsible for conducting and creating motion to the set. Supported by FAPESP.
