San Giuseppe Hospital, Empoli, Italy SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Methods Statement 1 The following information were registered through an anonymous electronical case report form (CRF): 1) Patient characteristics: age, sex, education, comorbidities, inpatient versus (vs) outpatient status, distance between home and the endoscopic centre; first vs successive colonoscopy 2) Bowel cleansing: substance (4L- PEG + simethicone, 2L-PEG + ascorbate, 2L-PEG + citrate + bisacodyl, sodium phosphate, sodium picosulfate + magnesium citrate), regimen (DB, SpD, SaD), fraction of product consumed, timing of regimen consumption, patient satisfaction and willingness to repeat the regimen; 3) Preparation choice: how the preparation was prescribed (central independent reservation system, module from the endoscopic unit, visit with endoscopy personnel, other oral information, other written information), if an alternative was provided between a split-dose or a day-before regimen; 4) Colonoscopy: indication, prescriber, planned time; effective time, sedation, cecal intubation, right colon preparation, left colon preparation, endoscopist satisfaction about the bowel cleansing; consequences of an unadequate preparation (repetition of the exam, shortening of FU interval, neither); Statement 2 The following continuous variables were categorized. Scheduled colonoscopy time = before 9:30 am; between 9:30 and 11:30 am; between 11:30 am and 2 pm and after 2 pm (afternoon colonoscopies).
