HEHANUSSA * Abstract Hebrew text of Old Testament use different attributes to call God of Israel, namely El, Elohim, and Yahweh. These attributes are using often together or interchangeably. In the period of Israel’s ancestors God was called using the name of three ancestors of Israel. God was called as God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and God of Jacob. In this period God had personal relationship with the ancestors. Since the exodus from Egypt, however, God of the ancestor called Himself as God of Israel, God of twelve tribes of Jacob. These facts rise a question whether Israel since period of their ancestor embrace monotheism or polytheism. A conclusion that often put forward is that monotheism in Israel is a long process that started since the exodus from Egypt. Therefore this paper deals with faith in Yahweh in the frame of monotheism. History about Moses, deuteronomistic tradition and tradition of Deutero-Isaiah are three important keys to deal with Yahweh and concept of monotheism in Israel. Abstrak Teks-teks Perjanjian Lama berbahasa Ibrani sering menggunakan istilah yang berbeda untuk menyebut Allah Israel, yakni El, Elohim, dan Yahweh. Istilah-istilah ini sering digunakan secara bersama-sama atau bergantian. Pada periode para leluhur Allah disebut dengan menggunakan nama tiga leluhur Israel. Allah disebut sebagai Allah Abraham, Allah Ishak, dan Allah Yakub. Pada periode ini Allah memiliki hubungan pribadi dengan para leluhur.
