This type of research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The location of this research was conducted at the Regional Library of West Sumatra Province. The sample of this research is a collection of Minangkabau cargo in the Regional Library of West Sumatra Province. Based on the research results, it is concluded as follows: First, the need for information on Minangkabau collections is not carried out by librarians, an effort that can be made is to observe the visiting visitors. Users need a collection of scientific works. Second, the Minangkabau collection development policy in the element of general policy, namely the coverage of the served library area is not limited and the addition of the Minangkabau collection is not limited. In the detailed collection element, namely the collection of Minangkabau journals, efforts that can be made are the librarian to make observations to visiting visitors to find out the subject areas of the collection that are needed by the library user. Third, the selection of Minangkabau collections is not going well, efforts that can be made by librarians are selecting and identifying using tools such as bibliographies, verifying the collection data held by the library and making a selection report. Fourth, the procurement of Minangkabau collections at the Regional Libraries of West Sumatra Province has several systems, namely hunting, gifts, grants, duplicating. Efforts that can be made are making purchases on the Minangkabau collection, so that the collection suits the needs of the user. Keywords: Collection; Minangkabau; development.
