Deva, Arifin, Chalid: Tangis Tukhunen Sebagai ..... 162 Aceh Anthropological Journal, Volume 5, No. 2, 161-175, Oktober 2021 P-ISSN: 2614-5561 E-ISSN: 2746-0436 Abstract: This article aim to describes the ritual communication and find out the model of communication and activities of tukhunen ceremony of Alas Marriage Ceremony of Southeast Aceh as a traditional communication medium.The method applied in this research is descriptive qualitative method with ethnographic communication approach, used interview of data collection, observation and documentation.Based on the results of the study, the data indicates that the Alas community of Southeast Aceh still implements the tukhunen weeping as their traditional communication media as an effort to protect despite it already changed. In implementation, it is a reflection of ritual communication and its function divided as function of socialization, function of education, and function of socio- cultural heritage. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan praktik komunikasi ritual serta menemukan pola-pola komunikasi dan aktivitas komunikasi dalam upacara tangis tukhunen pada pernikahan suku alas di Aceh Tenggara sebagai media komunikasi tradisional. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan etnografi komunikasi, dengan menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat suku alas di Aceh Tenggara masih melaksanakan tangis tukhunen sebagai media komunikasi tradisional mereka sebagai upaya pemeliharaan meskipun telah mengalamai perubahan. Dalam praktiknya merupakan refleksi dari komunikasi ritual dan fungsinya yakni sebagai fungsi sosialiasi, fungsi pendidikan, dan fungsi warisan sosial budaya.
