Sustainable and Innovative Solutions for Greek Tourism: The case of Mykonos. Introduction Greece's tourism industry signifcantly contributes to its economy, accounting for 18% of its GDP and employing over 900,000 people. However, the rapid growth of tourism has put pressure on the country's infrastructure and natural environment and has highlighted the need for sustainable and efcient tourism practices. Mykonos is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Mediterranean, attracting millions of visitors yearly. While tourism has brought signifcant economic benefts to the island, it has also created environmental, social, and cultural challenges that must be addressed. This paper highlights the importance of the sustainability of tourism. It uses Mykonos as an example by proposing policies that could efectively be used to steer the island in that direction.
