Abstract
The influence of silicon nitride, graphite and ball milled (silicon nitride + graphite) reinforcement on the microstructures and
physical properties of Al6082 alloy composites manufactured by conventional stir casting method have been studied. The result
showed that the density increased by 2.18%, decreased by 4.1 % and increased by 10.33%, whereas porosity increased from 0.37
% to 1.43 %, from 0.37 % to 2.27 % and from 0.37 % to 1.64% as the weight % of reinforcement particles increased from 0 to 12
% in case of silicon nitride, graphite and ball milled (silicon nitride + graphite) reinforced composites respectively.

1. Introduction
Aluminium metal can be used as a key matrix element in the production of composite materials because of its
light weight and these contrived composite are named as Aluminium Matrix composites (AMCs). There is inflated
petition for a low cost with nimble weight and a sturdier and energy useable material in the aircraft, space, defense
and automotive applications due to technology evolution. AMCs presented usage in the manufacturing of these parts
[1-2]. Meanwhile from last forty to fifty years there is pervasive research and innovatory evolvement in the field of
composite materials and most of the investigator exasperated to strengthen conventional metal and their alloy with
ceramic phase to increase their properties in the very past few years or in the recent time [3] and these AMCs made
having particular and stout potential in the area of engineering and non-engineering components [4].
