The study adopts a qualitative approach and applies bibliographic overview procedures that substantiate ‘internet of things’ concepts in education and the decision-making process in education, as well as analysing the phenomena in the light of contingency theory precepts. Therefore, this study investigated several contexts for the application of this technology in learning and a more efficient management of educational organisation structure, in addition to indicating spaces for the construction of alternatives when making decisions hitherto compromised by the limitation of technological resources.
