FINANCIAL LITERACY AND SPENDING HABITS OF GRADE 12 STUDENTS Sofia Lyza E. Balisong Ivy C. Misa ABSTRACT Individuals can make plans that set expectations, hold them accountable to their finances, and set a course for accomplishing seemingly unreachable goals by having a better understanding of how to budget and save money. This research was conducted to know the financial literacy and spending habits of Grade 12 students. The study utilized a descriptive correlational research design. Total enumeration sampling is utilized in choosing the 55 respondents who was randomly selected in Don Brigido Miraflor Integrated School (JESMAG) at Lucapon South Sta. Cruz, Zambales. The survey questionnaire was used in the study that will determine the profile of the respondents, financial factors: spending, saving, and budgeting and spending factors: needs, wants, action, and peer influence. The collected data was then evaluated and categorized, after which the categories were identified and interpreted. The results showed that financial literacy and spending factors affecting students in terms of their budgeting and spending. In financial factors shows that students are being wise in spending their money and know how to handle it properly. While in spending factors it shows that they spending their money more based on the different factors. It also show that by normal standards, the association between two variables financial literacy and spending habits would not be considered statistically significant. Therefore schools should conduct a program about the proper way of handling money with the help of the financial expert that will enlighten the knowledge of the students.
