INTRODUCTION
“Eating disorders is not an illness of the body; it
is an illness of the mind”
Eating disorders are psychological illnesses defined
by abnormal eating habits that may involve either
insufficient or excessive food intake to the
determent of an individual’s physical and mental
health.
NEED OF THE STUDY
Eating disorders are common health problem
afflicting mainly female adolescents and young
women. They are associated with important
physical health and psychosocial morbidity and
carry increased risk of health. Their cause is not yet
completely understood and their management is
complex, with patients resisting all available
treatments.
The National Eating Disorders Association
indicates that an estimated 5-20% of those who
have anorexia nervosa will not survive
complications associated with it. This means that
anorexia has one of the highest mortality rates of all
mental disorders for those who receive treatment;
the mortality rate is far lower, at 2-3%.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
A study to assess the effectiveness of planned
teaching programme on knowledge regarding
eating disorders among adolescent girls in the
selected schools of Jabalpur city, (MP).
OBJECTIVES
To assess the pre-test knowledge score
regarding eating disorders among adolescent
girls.
To assess the post-test knowledge score
regarding eating disorders among adolescent
girls
