CIENCIA Y ARTE DE ENFERMERÍa Publication as the last step of scientifc investigation La publicación como último paso de toda investigación científca Flor Marlene Luna Victoria Mori 1 The culmination of a scientifc investigation satisfce us for the contribution and strengthening of knowledge, in this specifc case, to the body of knowledge in the Nursing science, however, if we do not spread what we do, by publishing the results of investigations, these will be deposited in a library, and the results will be used in a restricted or broad way, only for a particular group of lectors. Hence the importance of publication of the investigation results, so they can be used, referenced, in a local, national and international level. The scientifc work does not end with the culmination of the research, the last step is PUBLICATION. We know that scientifc investigation and the publication of scientifc article are inseparable activities, as referred by Day 1 , are two related activities. Scientifc investigation ends with the publication of the scientifc article; only then it will become part of scientifc knowledge. Publication is a useful tool to inform the scientifc community: obtained results, theoretical frameworks and used methodologies, is a way to communicate with other researchers. “The publication of discoveries, investigation and scientifc advances, is inherent to science”. Every experiment must be written so other researchers can contrast, reproduce and used it, since if they were left only to the oral transmission, the result would be imprecise and ephemeral, and they could be deformed or lost. A study that is not published, is not editorial visible for the scientifc community, thus, does not exist. 2 We can infer that the objective of scientifc investigation is publication. If it is not published we are invisible for knowledge, for science. It is interesting to wonder this questions, ¿Why the publication is not made? ¿Do we know how to write a scientifc article? ¿Do we know how to write, communicate? To answer these questions we can say that most universities, investigators dedicate and emphasize in how to make a scientifc investigation, invest time, energy, dedication and it is believed the all the work is over with the support in case of a thesis, or in the presentation of scientifc events: Congresses and research days. We forget the last step of investigation: PUBLICATION. Baiget T, Torres-Salinas D. 2 , states that “it is a duty of the investigators the publication of the obtained results and makes it as efective as possible so the message can be spread to the rest of colleagues”. In the frst place, to publish we must know how to write, and then fnd a place to publish, ¿In what journal? ¿Is it indexed?. Otherwise the written article is neither valuated nor qualifed. In our country, in the feld of nursing, I dare to say that are a few INDEXED JOURNALS with the demands of Concytec to be qualifed researcher, in the feld of health and public health.
