Agriculture and the Allied sector contribute around 13% of the state’s Gross Value Added (GSVA) and provides employment to around 43% of the workforce (GOJ 2021). It is one of the most excellent sectors of Jharkhand rural economy. It is also vital for price stability, food security, income and livelihood for the mainstream of the population. Present study has to analysed growth of major agriculture crops in Jharkhand. Keywords: Agriculture, growth, crops, food security and CAGR. Introduction Jharkhand is the 28 th state of India carved-out from its neighbour state Bihar on 15 Nov, 2000. It has great possibilities in agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry. Agriculture is the mainstay of the Jharkhand economy and is important for the state economy. Agriculture and the Allied sector contribute around 13% of the state’s Gross Value Added (GSVA) and provides employment to around 43% of the workforce (GOJ 2021). It is one of the pre-eminent sectors of Jharkhand’s rural economy. It is also important for the price stability, food security, income and livelihood. It serves to be the largest employment generating activity. Agriculture and related sector play an important role in Jharkhand economy and it provides food crops, row materials and many other products. The types of agriculture crops separated in three categories. They are: Kharif crops, Rabi crops and Zaid crops. The Kharif crops are the monsoon crops in Jharkhand under this crops Paddy, Mize, Pulses, Bajra, Jowar, Sugarcane, etc. are integrated. These crops are grown during July to September in Jharkhand. The rabi crops are the spring harvest on winter crop in Jharkhand. The most important rabi crops are wheat, barley, mustard, peas etc. these crops are grown during November to February march in Jharkhand. Rabi crops are also called winter crops. The Zaid crops are grown in some part of the state during March to June. Under this crop’s musk melon, water melon, vegetables etc. are included. This is known as Garma Crops. The most important agriculture crops are wheat, paddy, maize, pulses and oilseeds in Jharkhand. Land Use Pattern in Jharkhand Out of the total land in Jharkhand around 47.67 percent is the total cultivable area, 28.08 percent is the net sown area, 11.12 percent is current follow land, 8.46 percent is other follow land, 39.20 percent is forest area, 7.20 percent is barren land, 2.48 percent is pasture and other grazing land, 3.44 percent cultivable waste land and 12.73 percent is irrigated land. Literature Review Singh and Singh (1992), The growth rates of area production and productivity of gram in dissimilar districts of Bihar; estimate the factors afecting the area, production and productivity of gram. Based on the district wise secondary time series data on area and yearly rainfall from 1960-61 to 1989-90.
