Bony metastases revealing renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a
common situaton since bone is the second site of metastasis
afer the lung for this tumor [1,2]. Because of its low sensibility
to radiotherapy and chemotherapy, management of such ma-
lignant tumor and its spread to bone is stll problematc espe-
cially in case of multple metastases [2]. Improvement of Overall
Survival (OS) and quality of life, tumor control and to a lesser
degree eradicaton of the disease is the main therapeutc goals

Abstract
Management of bone metastases from Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC)
has signifcantly changed afer the era of targeted therapy that im-
proved the overall survival. This has sucked the diferent interven-
ers in their management to push the surgical indicatons in order to
improve outcome and quality of life for these patents. In case of a
solitary metastasis or a limited number of resectable metastases wide
resectons have to be considered according to patent profle, comor-
bidites, localizaton, heaviness of the surgery and to beneft –risk bal-
ance. However such surgeries are highly demanding procedures that
must be carefully planned and discussed in multdisciplinary team
and with patent. Thus, surgical decision-making for a second metas-
tasis and according to what criteria remains a subject of controversy.
We report a case of an aggressive metastatc renal cell carcinoma
with good functonal and oncologic outcomes 3 years afer surgery
coupled with ant-angiogenic treatment. A review of the literature
concerning recent attudes in the management of bony metastatc
renal carcinoma was carried out.

in such case. Recently the use of targeted therapies coupled or
not with surgery has changed the prognosis of this pathology
through the improvement of OS which prompted oncologists
and surgeons to push surgical indicatons while taking into ac-
count the beneft to risk rato for the patent. We report a case
of a young adult with aggressive bony metastases from RCC
which had a good outcome afer aggressive surgeries coupled to
ant-angiogenic therapy. Recent attudes in the management of
bony metastatc renal carcinoma were revealed through review
of the literature.
