Kata kunci : Hasil belajar sosiologi; Problem based learning; Teka-teki silang. Abstract This study aims to improve the sociology learning outcomes of class XI IPS 1 SMAN 1 Batang Gasan. This is interesting to study because the learning process is less participatory, active, innovative, creative, effective and fun (PAIKEM) so it affects learning outcomes to be low. This type of research uses Classroom Action Research (PTK) according to Kemmis & McTaggart which includes four stages of each cycle, namely planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. Implementation of research activities carried out in two cycles, each cycle of two meetings. The research was conducted with a total of 21 students in class XI IPS 1 SMA Negeri 1 Batang Gasan using the Problem-Based Learning model assisted by crossword puzzles. Data collection through tests and observation sheets of student and teacher activities were analyzed using a quantitative description. The results showed that there was an increase in sociology learning outcomes through the use of the Problem-Based Learning model assisted by TTS media. It is known that the percentage of students' pre-action completeness of 33.33% increased by 14.28% to 47.61% in cycle I. In cycle II it increased by 28.58% to 76.19%. The learning outcomes data show that the percentage of student completeness has increased so that it is categorized as good. Improving student learning outcomes is certainly influenced by the learning process contained in constructivism theory, where the process of knowledge construction is based on the student experience.
