Psychological well-being is usually conceptualized as some combination of positive affective
states such as happiness and functioning with optimal effectiveness in individual and social life.
Psychological well-being during COVID-19 refers to an individual's overall mental and
emotional state during the COVID-19 pandemic. It encompasses various factors such as
autonomy, environmental mastery, personal growth, positive relations with others, purpose in
life and self-acceptance. To study the psychological well-being of university students, an online
survey was conducted with 174 students of Himachal Pradesh University, who were pursuing
online education during COVID-19. Here Ryff and Keyes's (1995) scale was designed in the
Google form and sent via social media like WhatsApp, email, and Facebook for data collection.
t-test was used to analyze the data. The psychological well-being of male and female university
students differed significantly on the 'Purpose of Life', whereas university students belonging to
the social science stream were higher on the 'Autonomy' dimension of the psychological well-
being as compared to university students belonging to the science stream during covid-19.
