67 Processus de débitage sur le Littoral sud du Gabon au Late Stone Age : le site Oba 1 Martial Matoumba Institut de Recherche en Sciences Humaines (Gabon) martialmatoumba@gmail.com Résumé Le site d’Oba 1, découvert en 2017 près du petit bourg d’Owabatanga sur le Littoral Sud du Gabon, a permis de mettre au jour du matériel lithique inséré dans les sables du Pléistocène final. Ce matériel, remontant au Late Stone Age, comprend un important débitage dont des spécimens récoltés autorisent d’in-terroger sa pratique sur ce site. S’appuyant sur la notion de chaîne opératoire, non seulement en tant que concept, mais également en tant qu’outil descriptif et analytique, l’examen des témoins met en exergue trois processus spéciali-sés de débitage lithiques que les hommes préhistoriques d’Oba 1 destinent en fonction des produits recherchés. Le premier est dédié à la production d’éclats et lames à la fois ; le deuxième est orienté vers la production d’éclats et le dernier est consacré à la production de lames. Ces trois processus permettent d’observer plusieurs faits à propos de la conception et de l’exploitation de la matière première. Debitage processes on the Southern Littoral of Gabon during the Late Stone Age: the Oba 1 site Abstract The Oba 1 is an archaeology site discovered in 2017 near the small town of Owabatanga on the southern coast of Gabon. It has revealed chipped stone ar-tifacts in the Final Pleistocene sands. These chipped stone artifacts dating back to the Late Stone Age include a significant amount of debitage products. prod-ucts allow us to question blank production practice on this site. We base our analysis on the notion of « chaîne opératoire », not only as a concept, but also as a descriptive and analytical tool. The analysis highlights three specialized processes of blank debitage that prehistoric men at Oba 1 used according to the products they sought. The first is dedicated to the production of both flakes and blades; the second is oriented towards the production of flakes and the last is dedicated to the production of blades. C’est à Bernard Clist (1995a, 1995b) que l’on
