It was initiated by Rev. Prof. Józef Marceli Dołęga as an aftermath of the 6 th Polish Philosophi- cal Congress in Toruń, which highlighted the importance of undertaking philosophical inquires on the issues of the social and natu- ral environment in the situation of the deep- ening ecological crisis. The conference, moreover, responds to the need for an inter- disciplinary approach, discussion and ways of solving the problems faced nowadays by the broadly understood environment. Te main goal of sustainable development philosophy is to verify approaches, strate- gies, and programs regarding the current direction of development. Implementa- tion of these tasks implies the necessity for the exchange of views and getting to know the positions of representatives of various disciplines in order to take into account the broad context of natural, anthropologi- cal, ethical, educational, economic and legal aspects of sustainable development. Tis year’s meeting took place on March 15, 2023, gathered 24 speakers and dozens of attendees. The conference was opened by Rev. Prof. Ryszard Sadowski – Direc- tor of the Institute of Philosophy and Head of the Department of Ecophilosophy, who welcomed the gathered guests and intro- duced the subject of the conference. The conference program covered ple- nary sessions and included the following speeches: 1. Prof. Helena Ciążela (Maria Grzegorze- wska University in Warsaw, Poland), Sustainable development and the pros- pect of a global catastrophe.
