The aim of this research were (1) to identify landslide-through analysis of ancient landslide on Peta Rupa Bumi Indonesia (RBI); (2) to find the distribution of the points of new landslide in the District of Girimulyo; and (3)to find the relationship between the spatial distribution of new landslide with ancient landslide areas in antiquity. The method which used in this research was interpretation of topographic information on Peta Rupa Bumi Indonesia which shows the former landslide. The results of map interpretation shows that the distribution of ancient landslide area is found in almost all areas in the District Girimulyo. The results of a field survey was the new landslide points that have been overlaid with the distribution of ancient landslide area also indicate that the new landslides which was occurred in the District Girimulyo located on an ancient landslide area, although the majority of landslides were also located outside the former ancient landslide. Landslides was occured generally caused by some factors such as a large slope and litologi conditions, as well as landslide triggering factors such as climate and land use. Keywords: New Landslide, Ancient Landslide, Spatial Relationship Intisari Kecamatan Girimulyo merupakan salah satu wilayah di Kabupaten Kulon Progo yang paling sering mengalami bencana longsor. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk (1) mengidentifikasi sebaran longsor purba di Kecamatan Girimulyo melalui interpretasi informasi topografis pada Peta Rupa Bumi Indonesia; (2) mengetahui persebaran titik-titik longsor baru di Kecamatan Girimulyo; dan (3) mencari hubungan spasial antara sebaran titik longsor baru dengan area-area longsor purba pada jaman dahulu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah interpretasi informasi topografis pada Peta Rupa Bumi Indonesia untuk mengidentifikasi longsor. Hasil dari interpretasi peta menunjukkan bahwa sebaran area longsor purba ditemukan hampir di sebagian besar wilayah di Kecamatan Girimulyo. Hasil survei lapangan terhadap titik-titik longsor baru yang telah ditampalkan dengan sebaran area longsor purba pun menunjukkan bahwa longsor-longsor baru yang terjadi di Kecamatan Girimulyo terletak pada area longsor purba, walaupun sebagian longsor juga ada yang terletak di luar bekas longsor purba. Longsor yang terjadi umumnya disebabkan oleh faktor-faktor penyebab longsor seperti kemiringan lereng yang besar dan kondisi litologinya, serta karena faktor pemicu longsor seperti iklim dan penggunaan lahan.
