Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah sudut pandang fatwa Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) Nomor 24 Tahun 2017 tentang Hukum Pedoman Bermuamalah Melalui Media Sosial. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa hate speech dalam media sosial, baik berupa bentuk dan sifatnya, hukumnya haram. Fatwa ini kemudian mendorong Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) memberikan rekomendasi kepada pemerintah untuk lebih memperhatikan bentuk-bentuk komunikasi di media sosial, terutama yang berkaitan dengan hate speech, serta menjadikan fatwa ini menjadi landasan dalam peraturan perundang-undangan dalam rangka menanggulangi dan menangani ujaran hate speech di media sosial, walaupun fatwa MUI dalam system perundang-undangan sifatnya tidak mengikat. Kata kunci: Hate Speech;media sosial;muamalah. Abstract This paper aims to analyze the problem of hate speech in social media that occurs on the people. The approach used is the perspective of the fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Number 24 of 2017 about the Law on Guidelines for Muamalah in Social Media. The result of analysis shows that hate speech in social media, both in its form and nature, is haram. This fatwa encouraged the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) to provide recommendations to the government to pay more attention to the forms of communication on social media, especially that related to hate speech, and making this fatwa become a basicon legislation for handling hate speech on social media, even though the MUI’s fatwa on the legislation system didn’t binded.
