EDITORIAL INCLEN (The International Clinical Epidemiology Network) and the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology The Journal of Clinical Epidemiology has always been open to articles from anywhere in the world and has pub- lished articles from a number of lower- and middle-income countries over the years. At the retreat of the JCE Policy Advisory Board in 2004, a decision was made to increase the profile of lower- and middle-income countries; Dr An- tonio Dans was appointed Deputy Editor and discussions initiated with the International Network of Clinical Epide- miology [INCLEN]. We are delighted that this has now come to fruition with the formalization of the Journal be- coming the official journal of INCLEN. Both entities are committed to furthering the science of Clinical Epidemiol- ogy ‘‘through the advancement and application of innova- tive methods of conducting and presenting primary research, synthesizing research results, disseminating and translating results into optimal clinical practice with special attention to training of new generations of scientists and clinical practice leaders.’’ A number of joint initiatives will be instituted immediately as described in the Editorial be- low including solicitation of manuscripts on innovative clinical epidemiology methods from theses of INCLEN graduates, support for authors from members of the Edito- rial Consultants and Policy Advisory Board, commission- ing of relevant reviews, a newsletter in each issue of the journal, and help with language. There is agreement that the same level of scientific quality will be required as for the other articles that the Journal publishes. We look for- ward to more as the relationship matures. We are delighted to welcome Drs Narendra Arora and Mary Ann Lansang to the Editorial Consultants Board, and Dr Inday Dans to the Policy Advisory Board to help with the implementation of this partnership.
