İkon kırıcı olduğu söylenen ve neredeyse bütün akımlara ve tekniklere karşı sert bir meydan okuma ve mücadele içinde olan Kötü Resim; sanatçının öznel yaklaşımı ve değersiz olarak görüneni ele alması ile tarihteki yerini alır. Bilinçli bir şekilde yanlış ve basit biçimleri, içeriği ve yıkıcı elementleri, kötü ve çirkin olanı yani bir anlamda aşırı derecede yüklenmiş betimlemeleri resimde kullanan Kötü Resim sanatçıları; varolan stilleri abartarak, ironize ederek, güncelliğini kaybetmiş teknikleri kullanarak ve kitsch (kiç) olana pozitif bir bakış anlayışını benimseyerek üretimlerini gerçekleştirirler. Kötü Resim; yüksek ve düşük sanat kavramları arasındaki ikiliği göstermeyi, yüksek sanatın geleneklerinden ve sanat tarihinin terimlerinden uzak durmayı amaçlamıştır. Geçmişin eserlerini günümüz kültür imgeleri ile örtüştürerek yeni anlamlar ve anlatım biçimleri yakalayan Kötü Resim sanatçıları; aynı zamanda kendilerine sanat tarihinin önemli sanatçılarını örnek almışlar ve onların eserlerine göndermelerde bulunmuşlardır. Anahtar Kelimeler: Kötü Resim, Yeni Dışavurumculuk, Yeni İmge Resmi, Kötü, Yıkıcı PLACE OF BAD PAINTING IN FINE ART ABSTRACT “Bad Painting” exhibition organized by curator Marcia Tucker in New Museum, New York in 1978 is in a close connection with the origins of New Expressionism and New Image Painting. Regarded to be iconoclastic and strictly against nearly all trends and techniques, Bad Painting can be considered as the artist’s examination of what looks invaluable with his/her subjective approach. Consciously using wrong and simple forms and contents, destructive elements and what is regarded as bad and ugly that can also be defined as extreme representations, Bad Painting artists create their artworks by exaggerating and ironizing current styles, using out of date techniques and approaching the kitsch with a positive perspective. The goal of “Bad Painting” is to show the duality between the high-art and the low -art, and to keep away from the high-art customs and the art history terms. The artists of Bad Painting, who catch new meanings and wordings by overlapping previous creations with modern cultur images, take a leaf out of important artists's book in the art history, and allude their arts.
