1 THE INFLUENCE OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE, CRITICAL THINKING ABILITY, AND SELF EFFICACY TOWARDS STUDENTS’ MATHEMATICS LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT Irajuana Haidar, Muhammad Jufri, Suwardi Annas Mathematics Education Postgraduate Program Universitas Negeri Makassar, Indonesia e-mail: irajuana93@gmail.com ABSTRACT This research was ex-post facto, the aim was investigated directly and indirectly the contribution of emotional intelligence and critical thinking ability towards mathematics learning achievement through self-efficacy on grade VIII th of SMP Negeri in Palopo city of academic year 2017/2018. The research population was 2433 students with the number of samples were 307 students. Samples of this research were chosen by simple random sampling technique. Instruments have used in this research were (1) emotional intelligence scale, (2) critical thinking ability test, (3) self-efficacy scale, and (4) mathematics learning achievement test. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and SEM analysis (Structural Equation Modelling). The result of the research shows that (1) most of students on grade VIII th of SMP Negeri in Palopo city have emotional intelligence are in very high category, critical thinking ability are in low category, self-efficacy are in very high category, and the mathematics learning achievement is in low category, (2) emotional intelligence have an positive influence directly and indirectly toward student’s mathematics learning achievement through critical thinking ability, emotional intelligence have an positive influence directly and indirectly toward student’s mathematics learning achievement through self-efficacy, whereas emotional intelligence have no positive influence indirectly toward student’s mathematics learning achievement through critical thinking ability and self-efficacy, (3) critical thinking ability have no positive influence indirectly toward student’s mathematics learning achievement through self-efficacy, whereas self-efficacy have an positive influence directly and indirectly toward student’s mathematics learning achievement, (4) emotional intelligence have an positive influence directly toward self-efficacy and emotional intelligence have an positive influence directly toward critical thinking ability, whereas critical thinking ability have no positive influence directly toward self-efficacy.
