Para analisar como se expressa tal acontecimento e a relação entre a festa, a comunidade local e o turismo, realizaram-se entrevistas com moradores e “turistas”, conduzidas pelo método da história oral temática, além de observações de base etnográfica durante o desfile dos blocos carnavalescos “Caçadores” e “Leão de Aço”, na cidade do Pilar (AL). Como resultado, de acordo com as memórias coletivas e históricas construídas e reveladas, verificou-se que a constituição dos blocos apresenta características fortemente culturais quanto ao seu significado e ao seu reconhecimento como patrimônio por parte da comunidade e a ocorrência do que se chamou “turismo familiar”, quando os visitantes participam do contexto social e sua estada decorre de relações de amizade e de parentesco. Palavras-Chave: turismo familiar; patrimônio cultural; memória sócio-histórica; Pilar-AL. Abstract The study considers a singular tourist phenomenon identified in a study on the carnival of Pilar. To analyze this event’s expression and the interplay between festivities, the local community, and tourism, interviews were conducted with residents and “tourists” using the thematic oral history method. Ethnography-based observations were also made during the parades of the “Caçadores” and “Leão de Aço” carnival blocks in the city of Pilar (Alagoas - Brazil). From the collective and historical memories constructed and revealed, it was found that the formation of the carnival blocks exhibits strongly cultural characteristics regarding their significance and recognition as heritage by the community, and the occurrence of the so- called “family tourism”, where visitors participate in the social context and their stay is rooted in friendship and kinship.
