Despite its prevalence, regional awareness variations exist, necessitating targeted studies. This research explores sinusitis awareness in District Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, considering geographical, climatic, and cultural influences. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional survey (July-Oct 2023) involved 400 adults residing in District Shimla for ≥12 months. A Google form assessed demographics and sinusitis knowledge (20 questions, maximum score 20). Descriptive statistics, including frequencies and percentages, were employed. The study design incorporated expert-validated tools, ensuring data reliability. Results: Among participants, 80.3% had heard of sinusitis, yet understanding varied (71.8%). Common symptom recognition was notable (72.3%), but awareness of sinusitis types (63.3%) indicated room for improvement. Climate and altitude impact awareness (61.3%), showcasing geographical nuances. Participants acknowledged cultural practices (67.0%), emphasizing cultural competency. Barriers to information dissemination (68.0%) were identified, indicating community-specific challenges. Respondents recognized the need for awareness campaigns (74.5%) and displayed good awareness of preventive measures (59.3%). Conclusion: The study unveils a commendable baseline awareness of sinusitis in District Shimla, alongside identified gaps. Leveraging cultural competencies, addressing barriers, and emphasizing preventive measures emerge as crucial strategies. This study envisions an empowered community actively engaged in health, contributing to the broader narrative of public health in the Himalayan heartland.
