Te biggest danger to sea waters and coastal areas are the disasters of tankers and drilling rigs. Tese sea disasters and oil spills in areas of transmission stations and petrol stations have got a big range and their number is still not fully known. Te worst disaster, of this type, in the XXI was the explosion in Mexican Bay on the 20 th of April 2010. Oil spill can lead to exhaustion of oxygen supply at great depths, and it endan- gers ecosystem and the animals, plants and microorganisms living there. Beach pollution with oil leads almost all life forms connected with the ekoton of the coastal areas to destruction. Oil covering the sand prevents biological functioning in this zone. Oil and its derivatives form isolation layer which changes the sorption properties of the substrate, limit the water access, inhibit or completely eliminate numerous species of or- ganisms living in sand, especially soil-feeding organisms. Remediation of such polluted sand should center around biological reconstruction and restoring all the original functions. Experiments on remediation with the use of microor- ganisms do not bring expected results (Zabłocka-Godlewska, Przystaś, 2005). Te authors’ of this article main research assumption is bioremediation of the sand taken from the sea beach which is polluted with oil with the use of macro invertebrate, Red Hybryd of Cali- fornia (Eisenia faetida ).
