A Novel C Shape Antenna with Switchable Wideband
Frequency Notch

Abstract In this paper a novel antenna with frequency notch characteristic has been pre-
sented. The antenna consists of a C-shaped microstrip antenna with two symmetrical notches
and a rectangular parasitic patch. The antenna has tunable property due to integrated pin
diode. When pin diode is OFF the antenna works like an ultra wide band antenna from 5 to
8 GHz. But when diode is ON the antenna has two bands separated by a small band-frequency
notch. The antenna has very high cross polarization attenuation. The whole antenna is sim-
ulated on MoM based full wave electromagnetic simulator IE3D and fabricated. The results
are in close resemblance.
