Fatmawati No. 1, Jakarta Selatan 12450 Email: rizkiya.maulida@upnvj.ac.id Received : October 09, 2021 ; Revised: January 15, 2022; Accepted: February 23, 2022 Abstract This research has aim to explore the role of the government public relations officer, Provincial Office of Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta in building relationships between the provincial government and all its stakeholders. According to system theory, public relations officers act as boundary spanners in the environment where their institution is located. D.I Yogyakarta is a province that has special status, distinct from other provinces. The data collection was conducted through interviews and observation. The result of this research shows that the government public relations officer of D.I Yogyakarta Provincial Office has a significant boundary spanner role between the provincial government and the environment around it. It is shown by the involvement of the provincial office PR in helping other provincial-level government institutions in shaping their relationship with the public. However, the public relations at the Provincial Office of D.I Yogyakarta did not have any authority in making policy. Further research is needed to analyze the implementation of the boundary spanner role in another province that has a different government system. Menurut teori sistem, humas berperan sebagai boundary spanner dalam suatu lingkungan tempat ia berada. Bagaimana peran tersebut dijalankan sangat dipengaruhi oleh lingkungan tempat humas tersebut berada. Provinsi DI Yogyakarta merupakan suatu daerah yang memiliki status keistimewaan, yang membedakan dengan provinsi lain. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode wawancara dan observasi terhadap bagian humas di Pemerintah
