Abstract The „Golczewskie Uroczysko” nature reserve was established on 5 May 2004 to protect the raised peat bog and the dystrophic Lake Żabie with its surrounding transitional bog and adjacent forest complexes containing val uable plants. In May, July and October 2006 the research of odonates (Odonata) fauna has been conducted in this area. A total of 575 odonates individuals belonging to 29 species (366 imagines, 152 larvae, 57 exuviae) were collected and among these 489 specimens belonging to 28 species were collected in Lake Żabie, 26 specimens belonging to 7 species on the beat boog, 52 specimens belonging to 3 species in flooded alder forest and 8 specimens belonging to 2 species were collected in ditches in the forest. The eurytopic species were dominated with substantial parts of tyrphobiontic and tyrphophilous species. Key words: dragonflies, damselflies, dystrophic lake, peat bog, NW Poland. Introduction Knowledge of odonates of peat bogs and dystrophic water bodies is based on solid base. The first works was published at the beginning of the XIX century (e.g. Peus 1932) and new knowledge has been added later (Mielewczyk 1969; Dreyer 1988; Sternberg 1993, 1994; Buczyński 2001). In Central Europe peat bogs occur mainly in post-glacial lake districts from Estonia and north-west Russia to northern and central Germany. On these areas odonates associated with peat bogs are most abundant, because of optimal habitat conditions. Northern Poland is very important as a refuge and connecting area between Baltic Countries and northern and central part of Germany (Bernard & Buczyński 2006; Weihrauch et al. 2006). In recent ye ars a number of studies concerning the indicated area have been carried out, but the present state of knowledge is still insufficient for the purpose of precise evaluation of the region (Bernard 1998; Buczyński et al. 2001; Buczyński 2003; Buczyński & Zawal 2004; Zawal et al. 2004; Śniegula 2006; Tończyk 2006; Marczak 2007; Buczyński & Zawal 2007; Bernard & Buczyński 2008; Buczyński et al. 2009). The ”Golczewskie Uroczysko” is a nature reserve established for protection of the raised peat bog and the dystr ophic Lake Żabie with transitional bog and adjacent forest complexes.
