It is hoped that this research can provide an overview of the actual situation regarding the learning process that is carried out using online system. With different learning conditions and situations from face-to-face, whether the objectives of learning English are achieved as desired by educators and students or vice versa. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through interviews, observation and documentation. The data or information obtained by the researcher shows that the process of learning English using the online system is quite effective, although in practice there are obstacles from various reasons. Keywords: English learning, effectivity, online learning, connection Pendahuluan Tidak dapat dihindari bahwa penyebaran virus covid-19 telah membuat aktivitas di seluruh dunia lumpuh. Virus yang diduga penyebaran awalnya dari Wu Han, Cina, telah menyebabkan banyak perubahan pada aktivitas sosial manusia dan tidak pernah diperkirakan sebelumnya. Seolah aktivitas yang menjadi kebiasaan dilakukan sehari-hari menjadi lumpuh dan ditinggalkan. Mungkin bisa dikatakan semua orang menghindar untuk bertemu dengan siapapun di luar keluarganya di rumah. Ketakutan akan tertular virus covid-19 dan mengalami kematian yang cepat menjadikan semua orang mengisolasi diri dari kegiatan yang biasa dilakukannya. Kekawatiran akan penularan terjadi di setiap level masyarakat, baik itu antar individu, kelompok masyarakat, bahkan antar negara. Penularan yang diduga dapat terjadi melalui cairan dropplets karena saat berbicara, bersin, maupun batuk menyebabkan setiap orang harus menjaga jarak, mencuci tangan dan mengenakan masker wajah. Karena mengantisipasi penularan yang semakin massive, maka WHO (World Health Organization) mengeluarkan pernyataan resmi bahwa virus corona (covid-19) sebagai Pandemi Global, seperti yang diberitakan oleh website koran Kompas pada Kamis, 12 Maret 2020. Pernyataan resmi WHO tersebut diikuti oleh kebijakan semua negara yang mana ada beberapa negara melakukan lock down secara domestik maupun bagi setiap orang dari luar negeri tidak diijinkan memasuki negara tersebut karena dikawatirkan membawa virus covid-
