ABSTRACT The bloom of computer software in the digital world has extended support in multiple fields including literature. In the literary sphere, software can be utilized in examining the count of words, characters, phrases, sentences and syllables in literary texts. It can also be used to calculate the density of lexicons. This research paper aims at analyzing the poem “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” written by Samuel Taylor Coleridge based on the frequencies of words and phrases, using a free online software called “Text Analyzer”. It also explores the impact of the use and count of certain words on the themes of the poem and the overall impact. Key Words: Computational Analysis, Software, Word Count, Theme and Digital Computational Analysis Digital Computational analysis of a literary work is an interesting part of literary criticism in the digital world. Making computational analysis using software is something unique. The analysis using software gives a new understanding to any text, especially an old one. Using software, the count of words and phrases used in the entire text can be processed and categorized in no time. With the data received, the text can be dealt in detail. Such a study can also be classified under Corpus Linguistics. Corpus Linguistics is the study of language using data obtained from the texts. The data serve as images to interpret the text. In this study, data mining plays a pivotal role in segregating and grouping words, thereby analyzing the patterns and relationships in a text.
