Meanwhile, the literature suggests that digitalization is an issue that is unavoidable at some point in all industries and that companies must adapt in order to maintain their competitive position. The purpose of this research is to look into the digital technologies that are commonly used in the food industry in order to identify the challenges and opportunities that exist in digital transformation. In this study more than twenty five articles collected and reviewed. Recent published articles were collected from high impact journals which consist of the review related to digital transformation in food industry. When this study was completed, it was discovered that the food industry is lagging behind other sectors in terms of digitalization. The industry is confronted with enormous challenges and one of the most important challenges, as well as resistance to digitalization in the food industry, is its profitability. Digital transformation has increased traceability throughout the food industry and has also reduced labour costs and production time.
