ABSTRACT
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) concept is used in this study
to promote sustainability and energy efficiency. For the green buildings, the LEED has
set guidelines for construction, design, maintenance and operation are defined clearly. It
is a system of ratings wherein structures are examined and awarded points in several
categories for meeting standards. To be LEED certified, a building must have a specific
total number of credits acquired through earning points. The Green Building
Certification Institute offers different certification levels and confers different
accreditations on people based on their LEED expertise. The Green Building Council
created and regulates the system. In the present work, a structure is used as the base case
in case studies. Its HVAC system is designed utilizing a variety of algorithms to determine
the building's load. With the LEED procedure now in place, calculations have been made
for the basic scenario. The material selection is done in accordance with ASHRAE
guidelines.
