Even so, documented data by the Observatory of Neology at the Pompeu Fabra University allows us to detect trends in the lexical formation processes, because new verbs follow only some of the available morphological rules. Besides, concept of neologicity can be reformulated in terms of predictability of grammar, since speakers considered that lexical units are more or less new, GHSHQGLQJ RQ ZKHWKHU WKH IRUPDWLRQ SURFHVV LV PRUH RU OHVV SUHGLFWDEOH :LWK our analysis of verbal neologisms, we can check the productivity of certain lexical formation processes; we can distinguish the predictable verbal neolo- gisms from other lexical innovations; and we can make correlations between some trends of neology and some principles of language change. Key words : neologisms, linguistic change, verb, morphology, semantics, pro- ductivity, availability.
