1 Project Based Learning using Open Source Odoo in Enterprise Resource Planning Subject Cindy Himawan Institut Teknologi Harapan Bangsa, Bandung cindy.himawan@gmail.com Abstract: Enterprise Resource Planning Curriculum in Indonesia university mostly still focused on the conceptual level. This makes Indonesia students was lack of experience about ERP system. ERP system is needed by enterprise to manage and integrate their transaction data so they can make a good planning on their resources and make intelligent business decision. Its align with Indonesia vision that currently trying to pursue Industry Revolution 4.0 and encourage the industry to utilize information technology to support the business process. Furthermore, Indonesia Ministry of Information Communication and Technology also define a category occupancy related to ERP job that suitable also to Industrial Engineering students. Hence, students are forced not only understand about the ERP conceptual, but also understand the ERP implementation phase as stated as one of main ERP competency define by Indonesia Ministry of Manpower in Skema Kompetensi Kerja Nasional Indonesia. The research is able to defined the new learning outcomes, graduates’ profile, learning method and also the time table and evaluation type, based on SKKNI competency and ICT occupancy. In the new curriculum, not only students learn about ERP concept by lecture, but they will be involved in project-based learning to do analysis for company case study requirement to implement the ERP system refer to the requirement. To support this project, students can use the open-source ERP named Odoo, its been proven to be suitable used in education. The curriculum has been successfully implemented in 4 (four) classes. The survey that involved 110 students showed that from students’ perspective, even though the project assignment is quite hard, students feel more interested on ERP and gain more knowledge about ERP. Most of the students also passed with A grade, showing that the project-based learning using Odoo is feasible to be done in ERP subject for university, especially for Industrial Engineering students. Introduction During Industry Revolution (IR) 1.0 and IR 2.0, the focus of the enterprise is more on how to optimize 5 (five) M, which are material, machine, method, man and money. As the computer and information technology found in IR 3.0, the enterprise starts to do data life cycle management to provide a report to monitoring enterprise growth. In this era too, we learned the concept of Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) to make the data integrated from all functional area in the enterprise. The integration ensure that the data will be accurate and possible to access real time while keeping the data secured and only can be accessed by authorized person. By having integrated data, the enterprise is enabled to pursue to the next IR, where by in the IR 4.0, the data is analyzed to make the enterprise possible to get the pattern data and make better decision. Figure 1 shows the relationship between Industrial Engineering with Information Technology in term of pursuing IR in an enterprise. It is shown that the focus is changes from silo application in the IR 1.0 and 2.0, to an integrated enterprise IR 3.0 and as in IR 4.0 the enterprise can have interoperability with other actor in supply and demand process. In summary, we can say that in order to achieve the interoperability era as in IR 4.0, enterprise have to have integration data as a basic input in the intelligence and learning process of the machine.
