Although Gastrointestinal Endoscopy is generally regarded as a safe, comfortable and minimal risk procedure, in reality patients often experience discomfort during this procedure, such as pain, anxiety and restlessness. The discomfort experienced by patients during endoscopy procedures can affect patient adherence to treatment and worsen the patient's quality of life. One theory that can be used in providing education is the theory of comfort developed by Katharine Kolcaba. It is hoped that education based on the theory of comfort can increase patient comfort during Gastrointestinal Endoscopy procedures. Article searches were conducted on electronic databases including Science Direct, Pubmed, Clinicalkey and Google Scholar. The keywords used were gastrointestinal endoscopy AND education AND patient comfort. The criteria for selected articles are 1) published in 2018-2023 2) full text 3) articles in English and Indonesian 4) RCT research or experimental study. Articles were selected according to the criteria, a total of 8 out of 91 articles were obtained using PRISMA. This systematic review describes comfort as a basic human need and proposes that it can be produced through physical, psychological, social, and environmental interventions. Theory of comfort-based education can increase patient comfort during Gastrointestinal Endoscopy procedures.
