First, for the important role they play in the dissemination of these works in other countries. And not least of all, for their contribution to building the image of a certain poet abroad. In this paper, we will address this issue from the study of the poetic anthology titled “Poesia italiana contemporània” that prepared the Catalan poet Narcís Comadira in 1990. Precisely, we will focus on the analysis of the poems by Giuseppe Ungaretti that Comadira included in and translated for this anthology, offering a certain reading of Un- garetti’s work, which is due entirely to the personal preferences of the translator. Resumen: Las antologías poéticas de obra extranjera no solo presentan interés por la traducción en si misma de los poemas que ofrecen al lector, sino también por otros factores. En primer lugar, por el importante papel que desarrollan en la difusión de dicha obra en otros países, y, no en menor lugar, por su contribución a la construcción de la imagen de un escritor fuera de sus fronteras. En esta ocasión, abordaremos este tema a partir del estudio de la antología poética que preparó el poeta catalán Narcís Comadira en 1990, y que tituló Poesia italiana contemporània.
