abstract
Iran's modern education has been state-centered and centralist, with
negligible links to local community. The high barrier between the school
and community can be found in components such as formal language in
classes, curriculum, educational contents, dressing up, table and bench
placement, educational calendar, attendance arrangements, and other
common behaviors and values. This remarkable distance, and the
negligible relation between the educational system and society led to
significant segments of the Iranian population living outside cities for many
