Jln Sangkuriang, Bandung 40135 Phone +62 (22) 2503654, Fax : +62 (22) 2504593 Email : agusmen@geotek.lipi.go.id ABSTRAK Otomasi adalah teknik untuk membuat perangkat, proses, atau sistem berjalan secara otomatis, menggunakan alat mekanis atau elektronis untuk menggantikan peran manusia dalam observasi, usaha, bahkan pengambilan keputusan. Dalam konteks perpustakaan, otomasi adalah cara untuk membuat sistem perpustakaan berjalan secara otomatis dengan sedikit bantuan manusia. Pengembangan sistem otomasi perpustakaan telah dilakukan di perpustakaan Puslit Geoteknologi-LIPI dalam upaya mempercepat pelayanan dan penyebaran informasi. Unsur yang berkaitan dengan pengembangan otomasi perpustakaan meliputi pengguna, perangkat keras, perangkat lunak, data dan prosedur. Pengembangan otomasi perpustakaan di Puslit Geoteknologi didasarkan pada koleksi yang dimiliki, keinginan peneliti memperoleh informasi yang serba cepat, serta pemenuhan kebutuhan peneliti akan akses informasi. Pengembangan sistem otomasi perpustakaan telah menghasilkan layanan On-line Public Accsess Catalogue (OPAC) yang dilengkapi dengan manajemen perpustakaan. Data katalog yang telah dimasukkan terdiri dari : 488 judul laporan hasil penelitian, 188 jurnal, 72 buletin, 33 prosiding, 23 majalah dan 25 judul buku. Seluruh informasi dalam katalog online tersebut dapat diakses oleh pengguna terutama peneliti di Puslit Geoteknologi-LIPI. ABSTRACT Automation is a technique to make the device, process, or system running automatically, using mechanical or electronic equipments to replace human involvement in observation, business, even the decision-making. In the library context, automation is the way to make the library system running automatically with little human assistance. The development of library automation system has been done in an effort to accelerate the dissemination of information and services. The elements that are associated with the development of library automation include users, hardware, software, data, and procedures. The development of library automation is based on the collection, the desire of researchers to obtain information quickly, and the fulfillment of researchers needs to access the information. The development of library automation systems resulted On-line Public Accsess Catalog (OPAC), completed with library management. Catalog data has been included consist of: 488 title research reports, 188 journals, 72 bulletins, 33 proceedings, 23 magazines and 25 book titles. All information on the online catalog can be accessed by users, particularly researchers at the Research Center for Geotechnology.
