Gudea, Ioana Chirilean, Antonia Socaciu University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca Key words: archeo-zoological research, statistical investigations, pannonia, roman province Abstract: Statistical investigations concerning archeological research from a Roman province – inferior Panonia, are carried out in this paper. Soprov - Scorbatina Roman town – forum, Albertfalva – civil settlement, pevious Szakàley – Rèti Földek - rural settlement Acsvospusztal – previous Roman, Sremska Mitrovico – Roman town, Budapesta Aquineum – Roman town, and Tàc – Gorsium – Roman town, were studied. Research was realized during 1974 – 1998. Fauna spectrum on sites situated in the mentioned localities from inferior Panonia is presented. Bone pieces are distributed on the main identified species: Bos taurus, sheep, goats, Eqvus cabalus, Sus scrofa domesticus, Canis domesticus, Catus, Cervus elaphus, Capreolus capreolus, Sus scrofa ferus, Gallus, Lepus, etc. Osteometric data from the main bone pieces obtained on species are also presented. Finally are presented considerations concerning the main animals’ characteristics. INTRODUCTION Panonia province had a Celtic population. It was conquered during Augustus time (27 b.H. – 6 p.H.) and colonized with Italic populations. The province was high urbanized and militarized. During Traianus government, after Dacia conquest (105 – 106 p.H.) the province wad divided in Superior Panonia in West, and Inferior Panonia along the Danube. The relief is flat, depending on Danube, and Sosa, and Drava rivers. The province is known as having a high development in animals rearing and agriculture. This province too, as others, have a high importance for Dacia, because part of Dacian colonists had their origin in this province. Also, part of military units from Dacia became from this province and not at last, the economical relationships, the domestic animals brought by Romans respectively, has this province as origin. MATERIAL AND METHOD All archeological research from the localities of above mention province realized during 1974 – 1998 were studied, and their results analyzed on osteological pieces emphasizing the faunistic spectrum on sites, localities, and species. Primary tables, on localities, species with osteological pieces number, were realized, also investigating the osteometric data on the main bone pieces identified. A very accurate recording of animal traits from the studied area was noted. RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS Osteological analyses on settlements - Panonia inferior province The studied fauna samples became from the following archeological sites: Faunistic spectrum on sites: Sopron - Scarbatina - Roman town – forum (Bököny, 1986);
