INTRODUCTION Social media can be defined as a group of internet-based applications that allow the creation and exchange of user-generated content (Primack & Escobar-Viera, 2017). Types of social media such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Youtube as well as other forms of communication. Social media has penetrated the daily lives of internet users, and increasing the development of smartphones only strengthens this phenomenon, so that these two technologies are increasingly related and increasingly widespread, especially among teenagers (Cramer & Inkster, 2017). Being a teenager who follows the trend, of course, they will feel incomplete if they do not have their social media. With the many conveniences provided by social media, they are addicted to using smartphones for a long time (Giunchiglia, Zeni, Gobbi, Bignotti, & Bison, 2018). Because addiction to using smartphones and the use of social media frequently will disrupt their learning process. And also their immature mindset can breakdown the information obtained (Primack & Escobar-Viera, 2017). Social media addiction can also affect psychological health, for example, social media is used as a place where people can express themselves and show off their daily activities. This can trigger jealousy in teens, especially if they have friends who have had greater success than them. Social media also creates psychological problems in the form of obsessions, ambitions that make teenagers lie to themselves. Many teenagers are obsessed with doing or getting something because other people have it on social media too. Everything they do on social media makes them not aware that it can affect their mental health (Cramer & Inkster, 2017). According to the RSPH (Royal Society for the Public) the influence of social media on the adolescent's mentality condition aged 14-24 years, that of 1500 respondents think Instagram is the media that has the worst impact on mental health, followed by Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, and YouTube. They all thought that Instagram exacerbated their anxiety levels and rated their body image low (Cramer & Inkster, 2017). Instagram is a social networking site that focuses on sharing photos, and it is the most popular social media among teenagers. This photo-sharing app has only grown in popularity since 2010, with more than 500 million active users. Unlike Facebook, Instagram focuses on photo sharing, body image enhancement, and reciprocity (Jackson & Luchner, 2016). Meanwhile, body image is defined as the position of a person's attitude towards the physical self which includes components of assessment, knowledge, and behavior (Ahadzadeh, Pahlvan Sharif, & Ong, 2017). Existing research documents the widespread influence of mass media on body images in people (Ata, Thompson, & Small, 2013). The problem of body image is increasing and affecting people of all ages. Awareness of body image has been observed in children and adolescents since the age of 8 years. Body image refers to how a person feels, thinks, and feels about their body and appearance. This perception can be positive or negative depending on sociodemographic and environmental factors (Latiff, Muhamad, & Rahman, 2018).
