123 Résumé Cette contribution souhaite s’intéresser à deux textes, ou groupes de texte: les histoires des familles romaines, et l’histoire des élections pontifcales de l’ermite augustinien Onofrio Panvinio (1530-1568). Les histoires des fami- lles romaines, qui fournissaient souvent des pa- pes, concernent les lignages des Massimo, des Savelli, des Frangipane et des Mattei, et cou- vrent des arbres généalogiques qui s’étendent de l’Antiquité jusqu’au XVIe siècle. L’histoires des élections pontifcales, De varia creatione Romani pontifcis, fut la première étude exhaus- tive de ce genre. Nous étudierons ici dans quelle mesure Panvinio a réalisé un simple travail de Abstract Tis contribution deals with two types of texts written by the Augustinian friar Ono- frio Panvinio (1530-1568): his histories of the Roman families and his history of papal elections. Te histories of the Roman families (Massimo, Savelli, Frangipane and Mattei), whose members sometimes became popes, describe lineages which extend from anti- quity to the sixteenth century. Te history of papal elections (De varia creatione Romani pontifcis) covers 1500 years and was the frst exhaustive study of this topic.
