K and MSROOR FATIM Darmet o Zooloy Aligar Muslim Universit Aligar, 202002 India Astact Qualitative and quantitative analyses of the gut content of the grey mullet Rhinomugi/ coula (Hamilton) from the River Yamuna, North India, were made. Anatomical modifications in the gut, the presence of a high percentae of decayed organic matter, mud, detritus, benthic organisms, algae and zooplankton indicate that the species is illiophagous and omnivorous in its feeding habits. Feeding intensit was mimal in winter and declined towads the monsoon. Seasonal variations in feeding intensity were determned by the percentage of empt guts.
