K and MSROOR FATIM Darmet o Zooloy Aligar Muslim Universit Aligar, 202002 India Astact Qualitative and quantitative analyses of the gut content of the grey mullet Rhinomugi/ coula (Hamilton) from the River Yamuna, North India, were made. Anatomical modifications in the gut, the presence of a high percentae of decayed organic matter, mud, detritus, benthic organisms, algae and zooplankton indicate that the species is illiophagous and omnivorous in its feeding habits. Feeding intensit was mimal in winter and declined towads the monsoon. Seasonal variations in feeding intensity were determned by the percentage of empt guts.
