Penelitian ini secara khusus mengidentifikasi kesiapan dan kompotensi mahasiswa calon guru sekolah dasar sebelum bergabung dengan angkatan kerja. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain penelitian studi kasus. Data diperoleh dengan melakukan wawancara yang distribusikan melalui google form berbentuk angket yang dikumpulkan dari 25 mahasiswa PGSD semester tujuh yang berasal dari salah satu perguruan tinggi terbesar di Jawa Barat. Hasil pengumpulan dan analisis data dibuat menjadi beberapa tema yaitu: 1) pengetahuan sebagai dasar untuk menjadi guru kompeten, 2) cerminan kepribadian calon guru sekolah dasar, 3) perilaku sebagai tolak ukur kesiapan menjadi seorang guru SD. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas mahasiswa PGSD sudah siap menjadi guru sekolah dasar dilihat dari jawaban yang diberikan atas dasar teori yang telah didapatkan selama kuliah namun untuk kualifikasi kompeten atau tidak kompeten dibutuhkan pengalaman dan jam terbang mengajar yang tidak singkat. Kata Kunci: kesiapan mahasiswa, guru, kompeten. Abstract This study aims to analyze the competence of PGSD students to become competent elementary school teachers. This study specifically identifies the readiness and competence of prospective elementary school teacher students before joining the workforce. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study research design. The data was obtained by conducting interviews which were distributed through a google form in the form of a questionnaire collected from 25 seventh semester PGSD students from one of the largest universities in West Java. The results of data collection and analysis were made into several themes, namely: 1) knowledge as the basis for becoming a competent teacher, 2) a reflection of the personality of prospective elementary school teachers, 3) behavior as a measure of readiness to become an elementary school teacher. The results showed that the majority of PGSD students were ready to become elementary school teachers, judging from the answers given on the basis of the theory that had been obtained during college, but for competent or incompetent qualifications experience and short teaching hours were needed.
