CAUSE AND EFFECT OF DEPOSITION AND FOULING OF HEAV ORGANICS AND OTHER COMPOUNDS IN FUEL AND PETROCHEMCAL PROCESSES G.Ali Mansoori University of Illinois at Chicago (M/C 063), Chicago, IL 60607-7052, USA mansoori@uic.edu Abstract In this work the cause and efect of deposition and fuling of heav organics and other compounds are presented and discussed. The basic requirements fr predictive modelling and mitigation of fuling in industrial processes are presente. The possible mechanisms of fuling in various processes are discussed in light of the general principles of fuling kown ad the available industial processes fuling data. The various_ stages of fuling and the fuling prediction modelling requirements fr those stages in industial processes are specifed and the data requirements fr each stage are presented. Parameters infuencing te fuling are specifed and the fundations fr predictive modelling which will help to mitigate fuling and increase the usefl lif of processes are specifed. 1. INTRODUCTION One of the major unsolved complex systems confonting the chemical, petroleum, fod and pharmaceutical industries at present is the untimely deposition of heavy organic and other solids dissolved or suspended in the fuid fow systems. The production, tasportation and processing of chemicals, petoleum and other industial fuids could be signifcantly afected by focculation and deposition of such compounds in the course of industial processing systems including transfr conduits, reactors and INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY TRANSACTION B: TECHNOLOGY Pages 1-17, January 2002 University of Kashan Press
