(2) Sikap dan peran orang tua nelayan terhadap pendidikan anak di Kampung Nelayan Untia Kota Makasar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif, penentuan informan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dengan kriteria informan telah ditentukan. Dalam teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Serta analisis datanya melakukan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan: (1) Kondisi keluarga nelayan dari segi sosial-ekonomi dari empat indikator yang diukur, didapati masih rendah pada tiga indikator (2) Sikap dan peran orang tua nelayan terhadap pendidikan anaknya terlihat dari tujuh indikator, yakni : (a) Orang tua memiliki wawasan terhadap pendidikan anak, (b) Orang tua menilai pendidikan bagi anaknya penting, (c) Orang tua ingin menyekolahkan anaknya setinggi-tingginya, (d) Adanya kendala orang tua untuk menyekolahkan anaknya, (e) Adanya usaha yang dilakukan orang tua terhadap pendidikan anak. (f) adanya peran orang tua terhadap pendidikan informal (tata krama, etika hingga agamanya), (g) Adanya perencanaan yang dimiliki orang tua untuk pendidikan anak kedepannya. Kata Kunci : Permasalahan Pendidikan, Anak Nelayan Miskin, Kampung Nelayan Untia ABSTRACT This study aims to determine (1) the condition of fishermen's families in the Untia Fisherman Village, Makassar City. (2) The attitude and role of fishermen's parents towards children's education in the Untia Fisherman Village, Makassar City. This type of research is descriptive qualitative, the determination of informants using purposive sampling technique with the criteria of informants have been determined. In data collection techniques, observations, interviews, and documentation were carried out. And the data analysis performs data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate: (1) The condition of fishermen's families in terms of socio- economic of the four indicators measured, was found still low on three indicators (2) The attitude and role of fishermen's parents towards the education of their children can be seen from seven indicators: (a) Parents have insight into children's education, (b) Parents consider education for their children important, (c) Parents want to send their children to highest possible level, (d) There are obstacles for parents to send their children to school, (e) There are efforts made by people parents on children's education. (f) the role of parents in informal education (manners, ethics and religion), (g) there’s a plan that parents have for their children's educati on in the future.
