The patient who have elongate time diagnosed with DM due to more complications that affect the quality of life (QOL), such as neuropathy, nephropathy, gangrene wounds and others. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between being diagnosed DM and QOL. This research method is descriptive analytic quantitative with cross sectional approach. This study used QOL questionnaire issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) QOL-BREF. WHOQOL-BREF contains 26 questions with 4 domain factors and questionnaire diagnosed DM. The sampling technique was stratified random sampling with purposive sampling method. This study taken at Pasar Rebo Hospital with number of sample 42 respondents. The number of respondents diagnosed DM 1- 5 years was dominated by poor QOL 15 respondents (5.7%), the range of 6-10 years had good and bad QOL with the same frequency, 2 respondents (4.8%). The number of respondents diagnosed more than 10 years is dominated by good QOL, 7 respondents (16.7%) with a p value of 0.293. Conclusion this study is no significant relationship between the duration of being diagnosed with DM and the QOL, patient who longer diagnosed of DM, the better the QOL of the patient.
