This study therefore investigated technology readiness among undergraduate students in an emerging Northern Nigerian University. The study was guided by three research questions and two null hypotheses. The descriptive survey research design was used, focusing on the entire 3159 undergraduate students in the studied university as the target population. The sample size comprised 450 students selected through stratified disproportionate random sampling technique. The updated and streamlined version of Technology Readiness Index (TRI 2.0) developed by Parasuraman and Colby (2015) was adopted for data collection. The Mean and Standard Deviation were used to answer research questions, while Independent t-test and One-Way Analysis of Variance and Scheffe Post-hoc statistics were used to test hypotheses. The findings showed that the level of technology readiness among the participants was high. Also, it was revealed that optimism motivated more than innovativeness, while discomfort inhibited more than insecurity in technology readiness. There was significant gender difference in technology readiness among the participants. There was also significant difference in technology readiness based on faculty. The study concluded that undergraduate students were ready to use technology for their studies. It was recommended that students should be optimistic and innovative in the use of technology for the enhancement of their studies and attainment of learning objectives. Also, institutional management should provide enabling technology-friendly environment that will enhance students’ motivation for technology usage.
